The History Of Yadkin Christian Ministries
Prior to the establishment of Yadkin Christian Ministries, the Yadkin County Ministerial Association carried out ministries at the prison, hospital, and provided an emergency relief ministry. Ministerial Association ministers were assigned two or three weeks a year to serve as chaplain at Hoots Memorial Hospital. In 1978, a part-time chaplain was employed at the Yadkin County Prison. In 1981, a part-time chaplain was hired through the Yadkin County Ministerial Association. Both the hospital and prison chaplain programs were designed for about 8 hours per week. The emergency relief ministry was coordinated with various ministers assuming responsibility. Realizing that this ministry should be expanded to involve lay people, the Yadkin County Ministerial Association proposed the establishment of Yadkin Christian Ministries. Through the support of 27 churches and many Yadkin County individuals, Yadkin Christian Ministries was formed in 1983. First Baptist Church of Yadkinville provided the first location in the upstairs of the Todd House. In 1985, a house was purchased on Elm Street in Yadkinville, which became the ministry center. In November 2000, a satellite site for Yadkin Christian Ministries was opened in East Bend.

People helping people in times of need by providing food and limited assistance with rent, utilities, medicine, etc., made possible by contributions received from churches, businesses, and individuals in obedience to the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you do for one of my family, you do for me.”
